About Montana
Montana is a regional centre that is located 145 km north of Sofia and minutes away from Ogosta lake. The city is huddled between the foothill of the Balkan mountain range and the Danube river, providing an important transport junction for the Northwestern Bulgaria. Ogosta lake is the second largest man-made lake in the Balkans and one of the largest in Europe. Given these characteristics, it hosts a number of annual events that attract many locals and foreigners. Throughout the year, a number of world-class boating competitions take place in the lake, including a very prestigious sailing boat competition. The lake is also very well known for its marine-life; thus attracting a lot of fishing enthusiasts for the competitions as well as several spectators that come to relax and enjoy the boasting views. Montana also offers all the necessary amenities to make it an ideal vacation spot, including supermarkets, pharmacies as well as commercial and traditional restaurants. The town also offers a spa resort, recreational complexes, retail outlets and a number of nightclubs that really make this town an all year round destination!
